As part of our brand, we like to recognize influential entrepreneurs and activists in the cannabis industry. For this profile, we interviewed Sarah ElSayed, the founder of Grass is Greener PR, a creative marketing agency representing companies and individuals within the greater wellness community.
Tell us about your company and how it got started. What do you do / what is your mission and why?
I'm the founder of Grass is Greener PR - a creative marketing agency representing companies and individuals within the greater wellness community. With a primary focus on the cannabis industry, I hope to widely de-stigmatize cannabis use, set industry-wide standards and trends, and to align myself with companies and people who see the bigger picture -- people who are willing to take the road less traveled in order to invoke real change.
What made you want to get into the cannabis industry? What makes you excited about this space?
I didn't expect to get into cannabis; in fact, I kept my personal use a secret for most of my life. When I finally realized that I could combine my passions to create my dream career, all of the taboos that were holding me back... they no longer seemed to matter.
Education among consumers and the business community is very important to the cannabis movement. What are your favorite educational resources (sites, blogs, podcasts, books) you would recommend to our audience?
In terms of business news, I stay up-to-date on industry topics by reading Direct Cannabis Network. For lifestyle information, I read PUSH Mag, and in my downtime, I watch Bong Appetit on VICELAND to give myself an extra creative, culinary push.
What people or brands in the cannabis space do you admire / inspire you right now?
My first client, The Legion of Bloom, continues to inspire me each and every day; they're using completely organic growing and extraction techniques, setting industry standards for cleanliness and lab testing, and prioritizing humanity above all else.
